City of Surrey FRIENDS OF HERITAGE AWARD 2005 for using heritage design together with modern technology
This multi-use commercial complex revolves around a neighborhood pub, restaurant, commercial office space and a high-end retail wine and beer store. Located adjacent to a major vehicle thoroughfare on one side, and in between the historic town centre and the Cloverdale fairgrounds on the other, the project's orientation helps re-enforce pedestrian links and acts as a catalyst and model for the area's re-development.
The project's aesthetic inspiration comes primarily from the original Cloverdale Station; however, it is interpreted as a contemporary theme fitted for its use as a place of gathering, business and fun. A market office component makes up the balance of the development. In contrast to similar uses, the pub building is extroverted to the street, allowing people to look in as they walk by.
